Hello connectors!
My very special guest today is my son: Alden Groves. As the editor, producer, and a consultant for The Groves Connection, Alden has been instrumental in shaping the show. I love connecting with industry leaders to discuss the ins and outs of healthcare, and Alden is the glue that makes it possible for me to share those conversations with you. He’s also an incredibly talented musician, and singlehandedly made the podcast intro song that so many of you have been asking about. Today, he brings his experience with mental health to an intimate conversation about Bipolar Disorder, depression, anxiety, the accessibility of mental healthcare, and suicidality.
As many of you are aware, September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and I wanted to take the opportunity to have a conversation about mental health and the stigma surrounding it. If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, call the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. If you or a loved one are otherwise struggling with your mental health, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional and seek help. There’s nothing wrong with seeking help, and you’ll be glad that you did.
While Alden and I are not strictly qualified to offer any medical advice on the subject, we hope you’ll enjoy our conversation about his experiences and struggles seeking care.
If you’re interested in hearing more of Alden’s music or watching his YouTube videos, you can find everything here:
